We are making a Quilt for Pulse

WE ARE making and collecting heart blocks to create a quilt to send to the Orlando MQG. They plan to give the quilts to the family and friends of the victims of the shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando and to the survivors. They have a goal of 102 quilts.

Ana will assemble the quilt top, and Jennie will quilt it.

What you need to know:

–Any size heart is fine. We prefer a 10.5″ unfinished block to make it easier to assemble.

–Any number of blocks is fine. Make as many as you can or want.

–We prefer a light background — low volume, light gray, or white on white.

–The hearts should be in rainbow colors — prints or solids.

Pink Shirts Winner and Donation to Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation

The Central Virginia Modern Quilt Guild was happy to make a donation of $1225.00 to the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation at our December meeting. Kirsta Millar from VBCF was on hand to accept our donation.

Also on hand was the winner of the Pink Shirts quilt: Kay Cole of Glen Allen, Virginia.

Thanks to our members and other members of the quilting community who gave a Pink Shirt for the quilt raffle. We created a beautiful quilt for a good cause.

A Sew Sew Day

WE’VE scheduled A SEW SEW DAY to assembly the Pink Shirts. We’ll meet at Quilting Adventures beginning around 10:00 a.m. and work until we have a complete wardrobe. The shop closes at 6:00 p.m.A sew sew day September2015

Please bring your sewing machine and tools. And, some design ideas.

If you have white or gray fabric to add, please bring that as well. Batting, appreciated too.

There might be snacks — no guarantee.
